Cookie Policy

What a cookie is

A cookie is a very small text file a website asks your browser to keep. On your next visit the browser hands it back, which is how a site can remember a setting you chose without asking who you are.

What WittyNames uses them for

  • Technical cookies. These keep the site working: remembering the last category you looked at, a display preference, or that you dismissed a notice. Without them the site would forget those things on every page load.
  • Analytics cookies. These help us count how many people opened a page, how fast it loaded and which generator buttons are actually used. The result is a total, not a profile of you.
  • Third-party cookies. Embedded services — traffic measurement, and an advertising network where ads are shown — set their own cookies under their own policies. We do not control those and cannot read them.

How to control them

Every current browser lets you see, delete and block cookies from its settings, usually under Privacy. You are free to block all of them. If you do, the site still works, but it will stop remembering your preferences between pages.

For a single visit with nothing kept afterwards, use your browser private or incognito window — it discards cookies when you close it.

How long they last

Session cookies disappear the moment you close the browser. Longer-lived cookies carry a preset expiry and clear themselves, normally within twelve months.

Do Not Track

Browsers differ in how they signal a tracking preference and there is no single standard our embedded providers all honour. The reliable control is your browser cookie settings, described above.

Changes

We revise this page when the site changes technology or adds an embedded service. The current version is always the one shown here.
