What the site is

WittyNames is an entertainment and reference site. The names, category descriptions and short guides on it are offered for fun and for inspiration. We check what we publish, but we do not promise that every detail is accurate or that any name will suit your situation.

Generated names are combinations, not advice

The generator assembles words according to patterns. It has no way of knowing whether the result is already a registered trademark, an existing business, a band, a website or the name of somebody you know. Before you use a name for anything with money or reputation attached, check it yourself in the appropriate register. Nothing here is legal advice.

Platform rules are set by the platform

Messaging apps, games and consoles each have their own limits on name length and permitted characters, and their own conduct rules. Those rules change without notice. If a name is refused, shortened or reported on a platform, that is between you and that platform. We are not responsible if an account is restricted because of a name chosen here.

Names suggested by visitors

Part of the site comes from visitor suggestions. We filter for slurs, harassment and obvious abuse before anything is shown, but we cannot review every possible reading of a phrase in advance. If you find something that targets a real person or crosses a line, report it through the contact page and we will remove it.

Trademarks of other companies

App names, game names, console names, logos and brands mentioned on the site belong to their owners. WittyNames is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any of them. We mention them only so readers know which naming rules or character limits are being described.

Some pages link out so you can read further. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, their policies or how they behave.
